Welcome to Mote

Mote is a world-class, nonprofit, marine research institution located in Sarasota, FL. We provide informal science education to pre-K children through adults, aligning with state and national education standards with a focus on marine research themes through exciting, interactive lessons and authentic research experiences.

Kasey Gaylord-Opalewski

Senior Coordinator of Digital Programs

Kasey Gaylord-Opalewski is the Senior Coordinator of Digital Programs at Mote Marine Laboratory. She coordinates scheduling and customer service requests for SeaTrek.TV. She is our primary on-air educator and brings a lively and engaging approach to science presentations and curriculum development. She also coordinates Mote's High School Alumni Intern Program and Science Cafés. In the past, Kasey was an animal trainer at Marineland of Florida, working with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, African penguins and California sea lions.

Jason Robertshaw

Senior Coordinator of Educational Technology

Jason is the Senior Coordinator of Educational Technology at Mote Marine Laboratory. He is the technical director for SeaTrek.TV connections and multimedia producer for lesson content. He also maintains Mote's educational technology infrastructure like the SO-COOL classroom. Prior to working at Mote, Jason was an on-air producer for public television and environmental project manager for the state of Florida. He is currently the web developer for the Florida Marine Science Educators Association, a FMSEA/FWC Aquatic Species Collection Workshop instructor and a board member of the IVC-PLN for the International Society of Technology in Education. Jason is also a certified Florida Master Naturalists and a Lead Instructor for FMNP at Mote.
